What else has been happening? Jonathan is walking everywhere! He even has his first pair of shoes, so he's looking like quite the little boy. I cut his hair for the first time. There aren't any pictures because, well, he's the third :0) We're enjoying this fall so much. We've been able to be outside plenty. We're a happy group!

Happy Halloween!
Forrest was ready for Halloween this year. He vowed to "make it all the way to Northmoor!" He would have, too, if it wasn't bedtime. Yes, he trick-or-treated for a long time and was so excited to see all the candy. This year, he decided to be the alphabet. Love that little boy!

Happy Halloween!
This year marked Forrest's first trick-or-treating experience. We've been preparing for a few weeks. After campaigning for a costume of "Cuisinart ice cream maker with cat and rabbit spinning around," we finally settled on yellow m&m. I just wasn't sure my creative skill could handle an operational appliance costume.
Despite the few raindrops, we had a very nice 15 minutes of trick-or-treating. Forrest was ready to go home and enjoy his candy. Yes, he did choose the one full-size bar that he was given. Very exciting!

While we were busy trick-or-treating, Dad was working on installing a new swing in our garage. It's called a Super Spinner (sort of a cross between a regular swing and a tire swing); it's a hit. I haven't managed a good action shot yet, but we love it! I'm looking forward to using it through the winter, given it's place in the garage rather than outside.
We're a happy little family these days.

Pumpkin Patch
Shaun and I had a nice time carving pumpkins last year, but I waited too long to buy. Last minute, I was scrambling, searching grocery stores, until I finally found two at Lowe's. This year, no procrastinating. We went to a real pumpkin patch yesterday, planning to buy three pumpkins, one each for me, Shaun, and Stuart. (Joshua hates Halloween couldn't be talked into carving last year.)
Upon arriving at Ackerman Farms in Morton, we were quite impressed with the giant assortment of pumpkins and gourds. Instead of coming home with three, five items found their way into our wagon. It was a beautiful day, over 80 degrees, and just very fun to wander around and look. We will definitely go back next year.

Halloween Weekend
Friday night began with a pumpkin search. Lesson learned: don't wait until the last minute to buy a pumpkin. Vanilla Bean Counter and I finally found them at Lowe's. We carved Friday evening, with great results.
Today was the central Illinois tour to Monticello and Springfield. We visited family, had some pizza, and watched a 4th grade basketball game. Nice weekend.
Saturday night we had a quiet evening handing out candy to the neighborhood kiddos. I did dress up, even though I had nowhere to go. It was still fun.

Middle School Dance
It's been about ten years since I've been to a middle school dance. Well, today that's where I was during 7th hour study hall. Let me tell you, middle school dances today are just as awkward and funny as I remember. There were circles of girls, a few groups of girls and boys, and a couple random students attempting the worm. (Those would be my students.)
Today we also went trick-or-treating at the nursing home and out to lunch at Steak n Shake. The nursing home was super nice. I'm thinking PRN this summer?
Fun day.
